Healthy Substitutions for those Unhealthy Snacks

EEating healthy can be so hard, especially when your craving those Oh so delicious, but unhealthy snacks. Just because you made a lifestyle change to eat and live healthier doesn’t mean you have to give up your snacks, their are easy ways to substitute your old snack for better, healthier options.

One thing almost everyone likes to snack on is those salty and delicious potato chips. If your looking for something salty to snack on to replace the unhealthy potato chips, try getting salted edamame. Edamame, which is soybeans, is super healthy and also very satisfying so you won’t still feel peckish. If you don’t like edamame, try roasting your own veggies until they become crunchy like a potato chip would and salt them lightly to get the same effect that you would with potato chips, only healthier and much more nutritious.

Another popular snack item is ice cream and frozen treats. The sugar content in ice cream is ridiculous making it a very unhealthy choice for a snack. If you crave frozen sweet snacks, try dipping some fresh fruit into yogurt or drizzle it with some dark chocolate and then freeze them overnight. This frozen treat is much healthier than ice cream and also quite delicious!

So just because your on a diet doesn’t mean you can’t still enjoy some great snacks and delicious treats. Give these ideas a try, and if you don’t like them just get creative and I’m sure you’ll find new, innovative ways to add good nutrition to your snacking habits.
